Has any body had any luck removing these. I have the bearing portion off now but am having a hard time removing the bearing race. Only two locations to get a hold of the race to pull on it. Any help would be appreciated. Can the new ones be pressed on in one piece or do they have be taken apart and the race pressed on seperately....Thanks..C.J.

The correct way to pull the side carrier bearing is with a special side carrier bearing puller (works on all years). Need a really good puller with a device to keep the jaws locked together. Any mechanic in a Chev. dealership or the dealership its self should have one. They were installed with a special tool and "hammered" on, placing the load on the center (inner) race only. A big socket or correct side pipe would work.

Gene I realize that might be the correct way but how would a layman like myself go about doing the job, that's the info I'm after...anybody knows with the correct tools all jobs are easy..I don't have the correct tools as I only have this job to do once...

I would not atteempt to do this at home wth out the required tools....and a proper puller is about $150.00.

I am not sure what the "proper" tool is, but I changed mine using pullers from Harbor Freight. Not the best tool place for many items but when you are using it once or twice it's hard to justify a top of the line tool. When I installed them I set the bearing on my wood stove to heat it and used a HF temp gun so I did not over heat it.
