Hey everyone I am looking for some info on a few things. I am getting our 54 Belair 2dr Hardtop ready for the 6cyl tour and looking for a few things. I tried looking for a new trunk mat as the original one in the car is shot, but I have not had any luck finding a repo one. also I am having an issue with the heater I think it is in the cables but I cant get it to turn off all the way and im not looking forward to having any hot legs on the tour. Is there possibly any new cables out there or repo ones? Any help or leads would be appreciated. Thanks Andy

The Filling Station has choke and throttle cables listed under "Cables" in their index and these cables are actually a universal cable that you can use as a heater cable. You can also purchase universal cables from NAPA or your local lawnmower repair shop.

Depending on which heater you have the problem is most likely an adjustment problem. Check the section in your repair manual for instructions.

A quick fix on your heater would be to remove your heater hoses and use a short section of hose to jumper out your water pump. You don't need the heater on your tour and can tackle the repair once you get back.

Andy, Take advantage of the VCCA tech advisors. Mine really was terrific in helping me locate hard to find parts.
Good luck.

Great news was I got everything done before the 20th Early 6cyl Tour. I drove the car almost a total of 500 miles (counting wrong turns and other driving) Learned alot about the Civil war that I forgot from school HAHA. Then as I was loading up the car in the trailer and strapping it down noticed the rearend was covered in rear end fluid on the right side and come to the conclusion I lost a right rear axle seal. Thankfully I only trailer due to haveing to work (I am 27) and dont have a lot of vacation so I like to get to meets and tours faster and more reliable. Looks like I will be adding this to our winter list of projects!

Andy's '54 is a really nice car, and it was great to see him and his Grandma enjoying it on the Six Cylinder tour. I'll take responsibility for providing the reason for the "other driving" on the tour, as Andy drove me to a parts store when my '50 was off the road on one of the days. Funny story... we googled parts stores, and the nearest hit on his Garmin was 8 or 10 miles away. The exit from the hotel lot was a one way deal, so we always had to go around the block the other way on our way back into the hotel. Andy's'54 drove really smooth and fast on the express way, and was a hit in the parking lot at the parts store with the other customers. On the way back, we went the other way around to get into the hotel lot... and saw there was a brand new parts store right around the corner that didn't show up on the Garmin yet! Lol... I'm actually glad it didn't, because I had a great ride in that beautiful car! ![[Linked Image from i150.photobucket.com]](http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s84/brewsterg6/Six%20Cylinder%20Tour%20-%20Richmond%202015/IMG_6293.jpg)

WOW! Nice car. For a young man of 27, he has done well. I really like his motorhome and trailer, as well.

He's doing great... But not his home & trailer. A beautiful '40 convertible belongs to it!
