After reading this months GD magazine article "Fan Frenzy" on using a truck fan blade to help with cooling on a 35, I am thinking about trying this on my 36 Standard. I have the same issues with mine even after a complete rebuild of engine and cooling system.

Does anyone know of a good source for the truck fan blade GM 837448? Even though I am trying to keep her close to original, I may consider an after market fan blade to keep it running cooler. The car runs about 190 but easily jumps to over 210+ in stop and go traffic.

Any sources or ideas would be helpful . please

Classic Industries #B1017 fan looks correct but double check with them directly. Ebay has them if you know what you are looking for. They are usually listed incorrectly.

A truck fan was mentioned, are you referring to a 20" four blade fan, I think I have 20" four blade truck fan.

Mine currently is 16" as best as I can tell. It is still on the car and difficult to get an accurate measure. It looks like it could handle a 17 or maybe even an 18 inch blade. From the pictures in the article the truck blade is bigger, by about a 1/2 to 1 inch and wider with a different pitch. Do you have a year or part number or know what it came off of?

I don't think the fan blade has a part#, I would have to check, the fan blade was removed from a 1958 261 truck motor.

Thanks for the accurate information Phil. Do you happen to know of a source? I would like to see if it would work on my 36 Standard.

the information that you give is correct in all respects
I recently bought one from the USA and it fitted perfectly without modifications. The engine now runs cooler and no boiling over in hot weather.
Well worth the expense and time involved...
