Hya,when I took the engine out of the 31 independence I noticed the engine mount/bracket was straight onto the chassis is it right there is no rubber in between,just metal to metal?

Yes, that's correct. Chevy did not have any sort of resilient engine mountings until 1932.

I tried rubber pieces between engine and frame many years ago. Took them out as they made vibrations 10 times worse. Bolt solid to the frame!
