working on a 1930 set of wire wheels. they have been sand blasted and are pitted. Any suggestions for filling in the pits. one person suggested using "CRE" a paint/rustproofing application in two or three coats. paint then sand, paint then sand.
Thanks David

It depends if it's structural. Tig or mig weld grind smooth where required. Use epoxy 2 part primer. If powder coating a special filler is required because of baking process. I beadblasted then applied 2k epoxy, then slick sand sprayable body filler for cosmetic pitting repairs. Sanded, applied a reduced epoxy as sealer, then single stage urethane. Then wet sand, Polish, and buff.

A lot of folks powder coat the wire wheels. Outsourced.

the wheels were bead blasted and the paint shop who is assisting with the work has me filling the pits with metal glaze 416, than sand and refill (should see my nails).
