Hi, I am retoring my 1938 4 door Chev Master Sport Sedan. I am not sure the handle I have for the trunk is the original one. Does anybody know about a www-link that shows a picture on how the original looks like? And can it be purchased? I think the handle of the trunk looks different than the handle of the doors?

The Filling Station in Lebanon, Oregon has the trunk handle and a photo of the handle on their web site. Go here:

The trunk and passenger side door handles look to be the same by outside appearance. I don't know off hand if they are the same on the inside where they connect to the mechanism.

Trunk Handle.

Door Handle.

Edit: After looking at the photos on The Filling Station site they do not interchange, they are different on the business end.

Now you're going to make me go to the garage with a tape measure aren't you Bill. laugh The pics I've taken of mine look the same but I've never measured them.

Don't stress that hip Tiny! Let me save you some steps…6-3/4 inches along outside of door handle and 5-1/4 inches for the outside length of the trunk handle…Billu38

Thanks all. Unfortunately Fillingstation does not have the trunk handle in stock, and they say they have no source for it, so it is "wish list" at them only. Do not then know where I can purchase it :-(. Any proposals?

Most of the items "others" sell comes from I & I Reproductions in Paramount California…..they sometimes run out of stock and it takes a few months to get back up to speed…they'll put you on a notification list if you call them….Billu38

Hi,

Chevs of the 40s, Fillingstation and I&I reproducion: Noen of them have the trunk handle for Chev 1938 available. Anybody who knows other places where I can get it? Not on ebay either.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,
Yes, tried ebay as well, several trunk handles, but not for 1938.

When I was looking to items for my '38 I got into the habit of checking ebay once a week. Most auctions run 7 days. I've seen lots of '38 handles listed. You also might send a question to a seller that appears to be parting out a '38. They may just not have the handles listed yet. Good luck.

I&I reproduction is great... bought one locking door handle and months latter decided to put one on the other side too....

They went out of their way to find me one with the same key number....

And FYI... 37s the same as 38 (not in design)...
But in that the door and trunk handles look the same at first glance...
but the trunk unit is shorter on the outer handle section......
