The circle with S in it is for A O Smith primary frame builder for Chevrolet many, many years.

That just means the frame was made by A. O. Smith.

Chipper was by my house a week or so ago & notice no "S" with a circle around it on a quick look over of my 1933 Standard Chassis. I went over it from one end to the other & no such stampings. There is a possibility that AO Smith didn't make frames for the 1933 Standard. That being said, no AOS stencil would be on the Frame rail as previously thought. 1933 Eagle & Master are still unknown...Joe

Did A O Smith supply all (apparently except '33 Standard) frames for the early 30s Chevys? Or was there another supplier? GM wanted a second factory for every part in the case something caused interruption of supply from a supplier factory. Did A O Smith supply frames from a second location?

The S inside the circle is on the front frame rail on each outer side. Some cross members may also have the logo.

Don't get confused here. Two things are being discussed. The circle with the S inside is located on the front frame horn. All it tells us is the manufacturer of the frame.

The second thing discussed is the white stencil information located on the outside of the left frame, approximately in line with the driver. This information is not found on many frames, especially if the frame has been dipped or blasted. If the information is still there, it gives more data than the circled S. If you can find the information and can read it, post the information here and it will be deciphered for you.

When I first started this post I was trying to figure out the lay out of the white stencil markings so I could some what duplicate them for the restoration of my 1933 Standard. I posted further discoveries that would indicate the absent of the "S" in the circle would indicate the absent of the AOS white stencil because the 1933 Standard frame was not produced by AO Smith...Joe
