Curious what the going value is (as spare parts) for a pr. of welled front fenders for a 31'. They are termed as solid and I will try and go by to get a look in the coming week or so. Don't know if they are badly dented or anything like that yet. Will get some pictures. Thanks, Ted

That is a complicated question to ask. First condition is critical to a price estimate. Dents, rust-out and breaks in the wire bead are critical. A good way to estimate the value is to determine the amount of body work needed to get them to the condition of reproduction fenders, wells and cost to insert the wells. Being original they should have a little more value than repops.

And being able to pick them up locally is critical. If they need to be shipped, cost can easily double. They are very large items, not stackable, so storing as spares means finding space.

I've got two in Seattle. $700 each. Now, how the heck do you get them from here to there? THAT'S the issue. --Bill B PS. Location, location, location.

I had one shipped to me on Grayhound several years ago. Don't remember the cost.

They were making fiberglass repros a couple of years ago. But the steel ones have not been made for about 20 years.

I am restoring my fenders as we speak. Mine were original steel with surface rust and a lot of pitting. They have been bead blast by a professional. I have used epoxy primer with slick sand ( liquid body filler) then epoxy reduced as sealer then urethane paint. The hours spent sanding between coats, the paint set up, the painting, the paint clean up. Then after painted - wet sand with 1500grit, 2500 grit, then 3000 then buff and polish. You have a tremendous amount of time invested. I would easily pay $700 for a finished fender. Greyhound bus is the cheapest way of shipping but not for a finished piece. Mm

They are local and supposed to be basically rust free with few dents. Both for $500 so I figured I'd go check them out. I'll post some pictures once I look at them. Thanks for the advice and replies.

Since they are close to Canada as well, check the edge bead, Canadian made fenders had a double bead versus the single bead on USA cars, and also had a second suupport bracket, therefore 2 sets of holes on outer edge.
