Once again.....give us the answers to our questions and we will try to help you with your problem. As stated on several previous posts, you may have the wrong flywheel. What is the engine block casting number, the casting date and the engine serial numbe on your engine? If you can view the casting number on the flywheel give us that number as well. Without giving us the specific information that we have asked for previously we cannot determine if you have the wrong engine or the wrong flywheel in your 1933.

Now that you have determined that the flywheel is incorrect it would be good to check the clutch, flywheel housing, release lever, and other components to be sure ALL the mating items are correct. I would even check the transmission. Perhaps someone adapted a later trans and other items may have been changed. If that's the case you will need to decide whether to find original 33 items or perhaps even get a starter that is compatible with the components you have now.

Thanks Junkyard Dog. I know the car was assembled in Oakland. Don
Wasn't there also something about weather a car was a master or not based upon it's assembled date?
Do you know someone who might have a flywheel for my car?

If you can't get the correct flywheel, and the ring gear tooth count is correct, you could possibly remove the ring gear, get a spacer ring machined up to a shrink fit, then replace your existing ring gear. The spacer ring would place the existing ring gear further forward.

How do I know if the current ring gear is the right count for the 10 tooth starter gear?

Hey that's a bit hard , I get lost after 10 fingers and 10 toes.
The original ring gear on my 1933 flywheel has 104 teeth. It also has a lead in chamfer on the forward side to help the starter pinion engage.

There are several differences in the flywheels 1929-1933. Width of the ring gear and mounting for the pressure plate are the two major ones. The '32-'33 bolt to the three armed pressure plate. Earlier pressure plates have 4 arms.

Thanks guys, I'll be counting. If someone dose not have a flywheel to sell to me. I'm going to look into the machine shop solution.
And I thought I was so close to getting my car running. Oh well the joys of the restoration process.
