Hello Everyone,

I am looking to widen my reach and the following request is already in the wanted section.

I am looking for the .......front seat adjuster rear roller......A pic of this item is located in the old car manual site....'29-'41 parts list....page 284. The item is 11.593.

On page 286 is the p/n...4074002 along with the '37-'38 application.

I had the seat repaired last summer and didn't realize that those pieces were missing. Stopped and talked to the upholstery shop owner hoping he had set them aside. He said he would look but I'm afraid they may not turn up.

I don't follow ebay closely these days but when I did I'd see seat parts (adjusters/rollers/etc.) on occasion.

Thank you Tiny,

I'll check it out. I did try a couple of places in N.H. but they haven't gotten back to me as of yet.

That's one reason I don't ebay much any more. They don't have a filter to weed out all of the BS stuff. You can narrow the search to vintage car and truck parts which helps some. Most auctions are for seven days. If you set 30 minutes aside once a week to wade through the BS you can sometimes find a gem.

If you do a search for 1937 Chevrolet, you can go to the advanced settings and filter out "shift" or any other word that could come up in a post title. That shifter knob vendor is sure annoying with "fits ***" and that is what brings all of those into your search.

Hello videoranger,

Thank you for the insight ! It worked great....I didn't find the seat parts I need but I did find the clutch release fingers I need and the clutch cover. Both items are NOS.

The fingers I purchased but the cover will have to wait for another payday.

Thanks again !!

Up side.....Got a reply from the only salvage yard that would consider looking for such a mundane piece and willing to part with it.

Down side.....It is going to hurt $$$$

Up-date,

Fellow member "Headlighter" came thru with the parts I was looking for. With help from a friend I was able to get the seat in.

The "hat style" clutch is adjusted and working. The halogen lights didn't quite work out as planned as a bad headlight relay (I have 2 installed. One for high and one for low beam) smoked the right side halogen headlight. Spent last Saturday looking for a 6 volt halogen bulb. There are 4 different parts stores in my town and not one of them carries them.

I even tried 2 Harley Davidson dealers because of a forum I read that stated the older Harley's were 6 volt and used the 35w halogen version but none available.

Went back to the conventional bulbs. Found 2 Stanley 35w bulbs among some stuff that came with the car. Polished another pair of reflectors and found these headlights to be really bright.

Took the car for a shake-down run to the local gas station. Readjusted the headlights and parked the car in the garage.

Next day opened the garage door and was greeted with the smell of gasoline. Fuel tank seam was leaking. Removed the fuel tank for repair.

Currently the car is up on jack stands awaiting the fuel tank.

I found that halogen bulbs have a short life.

Martinomon,

The first time I removed the fuel tank was to fix the fuel gauge (turned out it only needed to be grounded). Discovered the hard way that the exhaust pipe makes it difficult to remove the fuel tank and to disconnect the sender wire.

From that experience, this time around, I was able to remove the fuel tank in about 15 minutes.

Chevgene,

The fact that the halogen bulb only lasted 10 minutes and the lack of availability of a 6 volt replacement made it an easy, yet expensive, decision to go back to the conventional bulbs.

Are you still using the prefocus base bulbs in your headlights? If so there's a good alternative to halogen. #2530 bulbs, 50cp high, 32cp low. Quite an upgrade from the stock 2320 (32H/20L) or the 2330 (32/32).

Hello Tiny,

Yes I am. They have the name Stanley embossed on them.

Thank you for the info. I will order them so I will have back ups on hand.

The car did come with a couple of boxes of dash light and headlight marker bulbs but they are so old that when I tried to put them in the bulb twisted free of the socket.

Ended up destroying most of them.

If you search ebay for 2530 bulbs you'll usually find some NOS bulbs too. I find them to be more durable than the Chinese bulbs I linked but they are normally more expensive. I found two boxes of NOS 2530s mixed in with other bulbs a couple of years ago & bought the whole bunch. No more night driving than I do I'm set for the rest of my life and likely my son's too (he's getting the car when I turn into plant food). I was able to relist the other bulbs and recover most of the money I spent.
