Hi,

I am restoring a Chevrolet Master 1938 (4 door). The car was partly restored 30 years ago by previous owner. I see the car is actually missing the inside arm rest on all 4 doors. I assume both the Master and Master De Luxe had arm rest as standard Equipment in 1938, or was it optional?
Where can I buy original arm rests? I see Chevys of the 40s have arm rest for Chevrolet, but what they provide seems to be the same for 1936-1952, and I assume orginally they were different during those years?
Sorry for my bad English, I do not live in the US!

Optional on the Master, not sure about the MD. I see OEM armrests on ebay on occasion.

Thanks!!

Does anybody know where I can find information about what was standard equipment on a 1938 Chev Master and what was optional (arm rests, lights,......)? Are there any Resources on the internet about this? So far I have not fond anything.

That information and much more is available in the 1938 Engineering Manual available from www.fillingstation.com.

A 1938 US built Master did not have arm rests on the front doors. The rear seat arm rests were built into the rear seat area sides.
The front door arm rests were a dealer installed accessory.

Thanks.
I am not sure extacly what is meant by Fillingstation Engineering Manual for 1938 model, is it the same as "Chevrolet Shop Manual" that Fillingstation is offering?

Additional question, I hope somebody can help: My Chev Master 1938 does have the original radio, but I am missing the antenna. Does anybody know where I can buy an antenna that is similar to the original one? Where can I find Picture of it?

Great forum!

You purchase the Engineering Manual from the Filling Station. It is not the same as the shop manual.
The 1938 antenna was straps that were mounted under the running boards. Most guys install a cowl side antenna, rod type.

Sorry, we assume everyone knows what The Filling Station is. blush It is a vendor of old Chevy parts. The Filling Station Another good vendor is Chevs of the 40s. The Filling Station sells Engineering Manual reproductions although I don't see one for 1938 listed in my print catalog. They do have the 1938 Accessory Brochure listed <CLICK> Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the stock radio antennas were the Turret Top and the antenna that mounts under the running board which I don't have a picture of. I don't believe anyone sells reproductions of those two. This is the antenna I bought.

You might try I and I reproductions for the arm rest parts. Their web site did show the bracket and foam pieces that would need to be covered with appropriate fabric.
