O.K. got the transmission out after much mumbling, but now need to replace starter ring gear on outer edge of fly wheel. All manner of instructions regarding clutch removal, but is it possible to just unbolt assembly from engine crank flange and go from there? Jim

If I remember correctly, then the answer is "Yes". At least for a '31.

Bill, what happens if a crank to flywheel bolt turns? The clutch must be removed from the flywheel in order to replace the ring-gear. So, may as well do it in order.
