So I finally got my roadster running ,Electrolock and a bad coil made it interesting Not to mention forgetting to reinstall the rotor that fell out and landed on the fender . I was wondering about the way the ammeter is hooked up . ON my sedan the main lead from the generator is connected to the left side contact, On the roadster it connected to the right side ,The ammeter can only fit in one way. Do I have a polarity issue and if so how would I change it?

If your ammeter is showing a charge when the car is running you have the wires on the meter installed correctly. If the ammeter is showing a discharge when the car is running, and if your generator has the correct output, then reverse the wires on the back on the ammeter because you have them installed backwards. Also, your Chevrolet should be a negative ground system, not a positive ground.

Ok thanks , I have a positive ammeter reading when the car is running. Just seemed strange that the wires on two different cars are backwards to one another. Both cars are negative ground.

yup that's exactly how I have it wired. Still need to connect the wire to the fuel gauge.
