I now have my 38 Master 4 door on the road and I am enjoying it immensely. I want to clean up some of the wiring. I noticed that wiring runs from front to back, underneath the floor in clips. The wires are not bundled or protected. So I wonder what kind of protection was provided on the original harness. Also, I am curious how many years they ran wiring in this manner in clips on underneath the floor. On my 51 1 Ton the wiring is run inside the frame.

My 1951 1 Ton is now on the road! My 38 Master 4 Door is also now on the road .

Mine was the same way. I put some protective insulation between the clips & wires on mine. Better safe than sorry.

The engine rebuilder put a new wiring harness in mine and it is all exposed as well.

At first I thought that's what those two rectangular shaped channels were for, but haven't seen any pics of wiring going through them, and the ends are too sharp for wiring anyway....what are those channels for?

I'm not aware of any channels like that. Are you by chance referring to the openings for the bumper brackets?

No, these look like tunnels that run from near the transmission to the front of the fuel tank. Will take pictures later tonight or tmw.

They are about 1.5" wide and about 1/2" high.

I remember those, I think those are structural. There is one on each side of the car. In the photo it is just to the left of the torque tube. I used sections of loom to keep the wires together and prevent chaffing.

Took pics of those things.

They are spot-welded on.

Those are structural braces, I would say. That wiring looks just like mine. I am going to put a sheath around it.

A cloth wiring loom will be a nice protection to your wires. Found on ebay: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-USA...OM-1-2-DIA-6-FT-ROLL-17554-/161737571707
(different sizes available). I am not the seller.
