Hi ALL
i am about to venture into unchartered waters here.
I need to replace both Vent windows in the 38 coupe and chrome one of the frames.
Has any one got any handy hints that will see me come through in one piece ?

Why does a chicken coup have 2 doors ?? if it had 4 it would be a chicken sedan boom boom...

The original tool for removing the glass was pretty elaborate. It was like a puller, grabbing both the frame and glass then pulling them apart. <CLICK> Absent that I'd look for a glass shop with experience in old cars to do the work. If you're not wanting to save the glass you can probably just break it out & remove it yourself. In my case I preserved the original glass even with the discoloration. I got dinged points when I had it judged but I'm happy with it.

My experience with pulling glass on vent windows was with my 51 1 Ton. I think it is the same technology with glass setting tape. I soaked it with brake cleaner and the tape disintegrated. The window came out easily after that.

My 1951 1 Ton is now on the road! My 38 Master 4 Door is also now on the road .

Brake cleaner should work. I used a piece of hacksaw blade, ground into a hook on one end to dig the old tape out. A few days ago there was a thread on this forum titled "vent glass setting tape". Good information before reinstalling the glass.
