I am interested in verifying that all 1936-1942 Chevrolet Coupe Pick-Ups have the Model Numbers stamped on the original Chevrolet Identification Plates listed as Passenger Car Models. So far, I believe that 1936 and 1940 Coupe Pick-Ups are definitely based on Passenger Car Models. In other words, in 1940, there were 3 different Passenger Car Models, KA, KB and KH. At least one 1940 Coupe Pick-Up that I know of was built on the KB chassis, the Master 85 Passenger Car Model. There has been some confusion over the years in the VCCA as to whether to place the Coupe Pick-Up in the commercial division or the Passenger Car Division when these vehicles are nationally judged. I am aware that original Chevrolet literature is confusing at best and sometimes Chevrolet advertised coupe pick-ups along with other commercial vehicles like pick-up trucks.
Does anyone have information on the 1937, 1938, 1939, 1941 and 1942 Coupe Pick-Up Model Numbers? Email me or post it here.

Hello Tiny: Well, thanks for posting that information, but not really. I need the information for 1938 that says the Coupe Pick-Up is Model HA - Master Deluxe Models; OR Master Models Series HB, etc. This should be found on the cowl ID tag or wherever else Chevy placed the Model Information. If a 1938 coupe pick-up is an HA or HB model, then the VCCA will judge these coupe pick-ups as passenger cars. If it is listed as a HC etc, then it will be VCCA judged in the commercial section in the VCCA. I currently believe that all coupe pick-ups from 1936-1942 were put on a passenger car chassis with a passenger car Model ID. If so, it only makes sense to place them in the passenger car judging section of the VCCA. We have debated this as a club before and the Judging Committee's job is to verify that we have placed these coupe pickups in the right category.

The NADA price guid for 1948 lists cope-pick-up in the truck section and they are listed as only for the leaf spring chassis which is the 1940 KB as an example.
Chevrolet lists it as a truck in the commercial (truck) section and always as the "cheap" Master 85 model for 1939 and 1940. The sedan delivery, wagon, and cpe PU are listed as commercial models.
They are in the truck section in Chevrolet Engineering Manuals In one example describeds as a truck mounted on car chhassis.
Go to the GM Herritage Center and search cevrolet truck, 1940 for more info.
I would consider them a truck along with the sedan delivery.
The station wagon is another story as it leans towards car in most places..
Parts for the cpe.p.u. (box, etc.) are in the truck section of the parts book.
