Was the steering box painted or natural in color? I'm kind of guessing the column mast jacket & box may've been painted as a sub assembly. Thoughts? Thank you, Joe

Hey Joe,

I would kind of think they were paint at two different times. The mast jacket was a polished paint to go along with a polished dash. If I remember right, the box was painted on my 34 before I started.

I am thinking the casting was natural and the mast jacket was installed and already painted.

My thinking matches Gene's. I think the mechanicals were natural and mast jacket gloss black. Not sure about the clamp could go either way on it.

Thanks for all the input. I have 3 boxes at the house from 33 Standard. I will go over them with a fine tooth comb. Need to select the best one I have & restore it. Thanks, Joe
