Looks like a '28 LP series to me, going by the 4 wheel brakes.

Sports a 1927 radiator shell. Tag says NATIONAL = 1927. Sometimes this info does not work for trucks, sooooooo!

I agree with Al and respectfully disagree with Ray.

The Capitol series in 1928 (1 ton trucks) had the LO for the first half of '28 (no front brakes) and the LP in the second half with front brakes. I believe they both used the same '27-style steel radiator shell.

Another clue is the headlight rims. Those in the picture are '28's.

So, I think the ID tag is correct: Capitol.

The '28 National trucks were 1/2 ton trucks built on the AB chassis.

Cheers, Dean

'28 heavy trucks used '27 style steel radiators and Superior style fenders.

Definitely a 1928 Capitol LP series 1 ton truck, but the mudguards(fenders)are different to the passenger car ones.

Looks to be a late '28 LP series truck. Has four wheel brakes. Only produced the last month or so of '28 truck production. They used a '27 style steel radiator shell and retained the Capital series name. Those are not common and sought after by some of the truck guys.

Here is another tag that is on the radiator.

I believe I read "...- 1928"

So this is a late 1928 LP series, 1 Ton. Does it have a model? Is this a Model 490?

The model designation of your truck is:

1928 Capitol LP Series 1 Ton Utility Express

Got one the same, but with an Australian body.

I'm not sure about the "Utility Express" tag. I think any designation like that would depend on the body and they could be bought as a cab and chassis, with the body being built by a specialized builder.

Get hold of either an original or re-print 4cyl Master Parts book mate and you'll find it in there.

As near as we can tell this has been parked in this barn for 62 years. The title has long since been lost. Hence we are applying for a replacement title and the form asks for:
Year: 1928
Make: Chevrolet
Model: (15 characters wide)
Body Type: Truck
Color: Black?

You have some latitude in filling out the form.

The Model can be Capital 1 ton or 1 Ton Truck

Body Type can be 1 Ton Truck or Utility or Flatbed or (what ever you want to describe the bed.

The standard color was green. Could have been a few others like black, red, blue.

This 1928 truck is now up for sale.
Any recommendations as to the best web sites to put this on?

I have posted it to the classified section of VCCA.org
