Hi,
i had to remove my clove box to install some cabels for my ipod. It is the same box like in the current ebay auction (
clove box 1937 ) . I was kind of disappointed how dilettantish the box was attached to the dashboard. The person who replaced the box used additional stainless steel staples and nut plates and didn’t use the already existing holes. He located the plates really close to the edge of the box and punched new holes into the cardboard. But maybe there was no other possibility for the mechanic because the original holes of the box don’t fit to the screw points of the dashboard.
How was the glove box attached to the dashboard back in the days. Does anyone have some illustrations how it’ supposed to be look like. The reproduction part in the picture has just holes drilled in the cardboard material. How is it possible to attach it to the dashboard without additional parts?
There is another vendor (
filling ) which also sells a box for a 1937. Would this glove box fit to the screw points of the dashboard or is it just the same part like the box from the ebay action? If it's the same is there a box available which fits!
And finally i have to admit that i didn’t pay enough attention. There are two additional clamps which fall of during i removed the box and i am not aware where there location is. Are they used to bolt the two top screws of the box with the dashboard?
I look forward and really appreciate the slightest answer!
Thanks a lot
Best Regards
Robert
