Hi I am new here, but have been working on a 1946 2 door Fleetmaster since 2001.

I had an original banjo horn button, lost/stolen in our move. The logo I was vibrant red and blue, possibly OEM. The person selling it didn't know what it was (other than a Chevy logo), but it came from an "Ohio Brass Foundry." The only references I can find to the existence of the Ohio Brass Foundry seem to be as old as this car.

I recently bought a replacement button one off ebay that is black and a subdued red that seems to match Dick Moffett's out of Ohio.

Where there variations on the color of these? Maybe year variations? I have also seen variations between black and red 'V' hood crests, as well as ones that were blue and red. Color variation or revisionist history? I have noticed in addition to color variations, variations in embossment, and symmetry of the crest. Can anyone recommend a place to post photos, so you can see what I am referring to? It isn't a show car, but I do care a bit about history. Thx!
Rob

Gorgeous! Yes, that is exactly what I am talking about!! That is what I once had. It notably different than the crooked Chevy logo one:

and the black background one:

So what is the history behind these? Variation in model? Bad attention to detail in aftermarket? Different suppliers in the 40s? I have also seen a variation on the hood badge colors. I hope someone documented this.

Based off my knowledge the top picture is the original horn cap with original center and the bottom picture is a reproduction cap. The reproduction caps have been out for about 5~6 years.

Is there a copyright reason that repro don't look like the original or a lack of attention to detail? Aftermarket isn't competing with GM if the parts aren't made anymore.
