Gents: under the dash, after removing the radio for service, I found a loose orange wire. It has a v-shaped shiny clip on the end of it, and it's about 8 to 10 inches long, so it goes somewhere in the area of the radio. Anyone know what it might be?
I did notice the glove box light switch does not have a wire going to it: is this it? I have never seen an electrical connector like this.

It sounds like the glove box wire, the V shaped wire plugs into the combination glove box switch-light. It is usually hot.

If the connector fits onto the glove box light switch then that is where the wire goes.

The above replies are logical. What is the correct bulb for the glovebox lamp? There was a bulb in it but it was not right: it was just stuck in and fell right out. the switch looks new.
This is a friend's car and it is almost perfect: a retired fireman restored it and it is just like working on a new car. Underneath the dash, looking up, is amazing: it is literally brand new.

Glove box #53 or #57 bulb. Socket ends the same for either one.

Might be stop switch or flasher with the V shaped connection.
