For the Chevrolet Superior Touring cars, does the tail pipe extend over the rear axle and exit from the rear of the car or does it exit from a short tailpipe attached to the muffler under the car?

It ended short but would extend it out the rear if I was to replace it.

Thanks, concerned with keeping it 100 percent original but like you, I would like to get the noise out behind me. The parts manual lists a tail pipe but doesn't state length. I currently have a short turndown out from the back of the muffler. Don't know if I would loose points at a judged event or not.... Thanks, Tom

The Superior vehicles had a short turn down and squeezed tailpipe. I consider these dangerous and recommend the tailpipe be extended to the back of the body.

My tailpipe is only about 15" long after the muffler. I can measure when I get home from having fun with dad's '28 speedster on the Mid-America 4 cylinder tour.

Ray, Thanks, I agree with you! Any reccomendations on a supplier?
Chris, Thanks I would appreciate the measurement. Mine is very short and not close to 15 inches.

On the 1925 you can unbolt the tailpipe and take it to your local muffler shop. They can measure for size and you can make an estimate on how much longer you would like to have. Really should come almost even with the bumper and if no bumper, even with the body.

My '25 Superior I believe has the original muffler. I found that a Model T take apart muffler is the same size as the one on my truck. It fit without any modifications. I replaced the outer body which rotted away and kept the rest of it. You can order one from any Model T vendor.
