Real quick questions: were the trunk sound deadening pads on the underside of the lid painted with the lid or installed afterwards?
Was the cowl tag painted or left natural? All of the above on 5-6-7 Chevs.

The trunk insulaton was installed then the lid was painted on both sides. The paint soaked into the insulation and became invisable.
The Fisher body tag was not painted. Also it was moved from the almost center of the firewall to the right side mid-year.

The trunk lid insulation is actually a large sheet which was inserted between the two sheet metal pieces that make up the trunk lid, then the pieces were welded together, then primed and painted along with the rest of the body.
