Hello
In the UK we are having more ethanol added to the gas on our forecourts.
We have 95 octane unleaded as the standard.
I am running my 23 roadster on the normal unleaded, but wonder if i should be adding a lead substitute with octane booster?

Not necessary....There was no lead in regular grades util after WWII.....and was not even "invented" in 1923.

No need for octane boost. The lowest grade gas today is far better than any gasoline available in the 1920's.

I agree. Stay away from fuel additives....you don't need them.

What do you guys think of a pint of Diesel in a 10 gal tank of gas. I think I like to think it's for lubrication

Hi Terry,

The lowest octane we get over here is 91.

For the last 4 years I have been running I Liter of diesel per full tank on my 28 Chev.

Its a cheap upper cylinder lubricant, and more importantly it lowers the temperature in the combustion chamber as I use the long reach 3077's.

No smoking, no ill effects.

Cheers

Ray

Some say "Street is neat". I prefer "1928 is great"

I have documented my 45 years with a 1928 Chev Tourer, from 1973 to 2018, and regulary add other items that I hope are of interest to others. Your comments are most welcome. The story of the Red Chev can be viewed at http://my28chev.blogspot.com/

Well thanks Ray...I use, I think W89D's is the right order, and haven't noticed any smell or smoke, and it behaves and starts on the second pull of the crank, usually. wink

W89D is the Champion crossover for the 3077. I will be running them in my 1914 shortly. The old AC Titans will just be for show days.

That is good enough for me.
I will carry on using the unleaded.
Thanks for the replies.

I believe UK and US use different formulas to calculate octane.

W89D's have worked very well and if your 1914 can handle the reach on the plugs I would use them until it comes time to show off. The titans are likely to hard to come by to use them all the time. wink....Terry

95 RON (Europe and much of the world) is about equal to 87 MON (USA).
