That's in the "Members only" section. You would need to be a member of the VCCA to gain access. This chat room is only a small part of what we offer....Joe

When you say you just joined, are you referring to the chat room or the club itself? If you've joined the club & paid your dues then one of the elves will get you set up to all we offer....Joe

Thanks again to all for the info, but trying to find some info on replacing my grille (37 1 1/2 ton truck, been on the search button, but can not find any comments on the retro grille fitting problems?
Also, my truck is in Minnesota, is there any members in that area who may know of a GOOD haulier who can get my truck to New York?
Thanks Mike

The search function here is challenging. I don't recall any threads here specific to '37 truck grills, at least recently. A variety of reproduction part problems are often discussed in the Stovebolt.com site. One, not specific to '37, is an active topic now. Try doing a search without being year specific. Also, see the Tech Tips section and see the Chrome Q's and A's section.
If you buy a grill reproduction or re chromed, be aware there is a difference between the size used for trucks vs cars. Some guys have been surprised. Not counting the center grill bar, trucks have 14 bars on each side. As I recall, cars have fewer. Sorry, I don't recall the number off hand. There is also difference in height, but again memory fails me.

Good luck finding a service to transport your truck. Keep us posted.

Lou MacMillan in Berkeley CA is a 1937 Chevy truck expert. He owns a bunch of them and lots of parts. Here are a couple of links that show some of his stuff:

You can reach him at C1937@znet.com

Some guys have used one of the bus lines, like Greyhound, to move parts. Depending on where the tires are in Wyoming, towns are few and far between, a nearby bus terminal could be an option. Maybe the person selling these can provide more local information.

Semi-gloss or matte finish black. Frames were dipped in an utility grade black paint similar to that used on generators and starters.

I suspect that there is an answer on this forum, but I have the 37 1 1/5 ton flat bed, 4 speed trany, my friend has a load of Chevy truck parts, is there a later axle open or closed shaft combination that i could do a swop to achieve a better cruising ratio, retaining my original g/box?
Thanks

Stovebolt.com is another website that has information about trucks too. There is a section there that is specific to these larger trucks and another section that specializes in the type of modification you are considering.

My guess is your truck has a 4:11 rear end gear ratio. I don't know if the 3.52 change some make on their 1/2 ton trucks will be possible for a larger truck. Someone here or at the above site will know, I'm betting. Good Luck!
