1953 210 4Door When i bought the car someone had converted the shifter to the floor. I have problems with it constantly. I tighten the nuts that connect the shifter to the rods but it quickly becomes loose and makes shifting difficult. Ultimately it stops being able to shift at all. I want to move it back to the column but I don't have the bread just yet. I also don't know what I need just yet. until then is there anyway to make it more functional. Thomas

thbass, try a little lock tight on the bolts. Use the medium strength removable type NOT the permanent. You'll be cursing and looking for a tourch to remove the permanent type.

Lacking any thread lock at times where safety is not a problem I use a little blue Silicon gasket sealer but never use it on screws that bottom out as the stuff will work it's way down the threads and cause problems with seating a screw or bolt.

Thbass, I have a 1951 standard shift parts car here, and I will see how much stuff is there for the shifter move, . Do you have any of the column shifter at all? and do you still have the original steering column with the threaded holes that mounts the shaft bushing near the steering wheel and the selector box below the firewall?
I would think there should be lots of the old "Three on the Tree" stuff around since the street rodders usually shuck all of that stuff when they do a conversion to a modern tranny.

Yes, i have the bolt on the tree near the wheel and the housing on the other side of the firewall. How much time money and work are we talking about? Thank you and everyone for the help. For those of you that were helping me with my electrical problem, thank you as well. It is running great. After I got the generator check and reinstalled it, the problem seemed to go away. Can't explain it. Must have been a bad field wire connection. Thomas <img border="0" alt="[twix]" title="" src="graemlins/twix.gif" />

Yes, a bad connection would be the best bet. I will have to check If I have all the parts, (USED) shift lever, shaft, with coupler, box, levers, and shifting rodsand adjusting bolts plus actual shipping charge. from Midland, to Houston. I will e-mail you when I find out if it is all here. Or what do you need?
