Hi, I agreed to help a buddy with a near-perfect '57 remove his original radio and send it somewhere to have it repaired. Can anyone advise what tools, etc, and if I will encounter anything unusual in removing the radio? It's the AM radio, not the WonderBar.
I am a car guy, just not experienced in this.

You will need to unplug the antenna wire,

Unplug the wire that is plugged into the side of the radio.

Remove the nuts on the shafts that stick through the dash,

Remove the bracket on the rear.

If this is the single unit radio you are through, if it is the two piece you will have to remove the power supply unit located behind the dash on the right side.

Pack well and ship to the chevradioman.

YES! I test the complete radio when it is repaired. If the speaker is bad, I usually have an exact match to exchange.

To everyone reading this. NEVER THROW AWAY THE ORIGINAL SPEAKER FOR YOUR RADIO. The old one can be reconed and operate as new.
