Broke my axle and I found a '48 rear end to put in my '41 Coupe. I have hooked it up, and referenced the manual. The problem is that there is no emergency brake. I tried to adjust it. Help. Thanks,

Hi Dan,

Are you using the same parts as you had on the 41? I am assuming they were in working order? Do you know how to adjust the emergency brake so the brake shoes expand and contract? Do you take pictures or make a video of your work so you can see how things go back together? Do you only do one brake at a time so you have the others to look at for reassembly problems? At my age I try to figure out ways to not make mistakes before I take anything apart. It is easy for me to find two ways to reassembly something, and then have a lot of self doubt if things do not go together as easily as they did coming apart!!!

Can you post a picture so we can see what components you have? We need to see your linkage at the transmission, a picture of the emergence brake mechanism attached to your brake shoes to see if it is even there?

Your posts lately show you are doing a lot of spring work. For me this can be very stressful if I have too many things I am working on at once. I do not multitask well anymore!!!

Give us some more clues so we can figure out the area of the problem. I may have some pictures I can post or could even take some for you.

Good luck, Mike

Spray the cables with some blaster or WD-49. They are probably stuck.
