I understand that there were some 94,000 standard 32 coupes built. however only 2026 came from the factory with the rumble seat. Does any one have an idea as to how many may be still in existence

In 1930, there were 100,373 standard coupes made and another 9,211 standard coupes supposedly came with a rumble seat. The standard coupes with the rumble seats did not have the sport coupe trim or wire wheels. On the sport coupe, 45,311 were made and they all had a rumble seat. laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

Hey Guys;
Since roughly twice as many rumble seat coupes were sold in 1930, what if any 1929 to 1931 could be interchanged with a 1932? I figure the 31 will fit, but what about the others?
Also; is it true that a turned around trunk lid would replace a rumble lid?

A 1930 rumble lid is totally different than a 1931-32 rumble lid. Yes, dudes have turned around the trunk lid on '32's and made them into a rumble lid. :eek: :eek: laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

Thanks JYD.
I guess I will have to find a good body man, 'cause mine looks like someone took a baseball bat to it. I would try it myself, but the inner support gets in the way of hammering it out. I guess the support has to be cut out and then the skin straightend. Then the support welded back in. That sort of thing is too intense for me.
Good body guys are hard to find in these parts.
Thanks again.

Hey guys;
Does Bow Tie have a web site. I have the old catalog but it doesn't show a lot for the older cars.
Don; how much was the skin, and do I have to remove the old one?
Hey JYD; if I get the framing cut off, Maybe I can run around on the inside of it. Kinda like smashing grapes! Ya know. laugh
Maybe I can get Gary Jeeter to slug away at it from the inside. He lives in my town. wink

Bow Tie Reproductions has some kind of a web site but it appears to be under construction. I went there and it is written in Japanese or some such thing.

If you want Gary Jeeter to slug away on your rumble lid......I would try it on a Ford first so that you won't be ruining anything. laugh laugh laugh :eek: bigl drink

Yes,

If Bow Ties site is under construction and looks like Japanese, I better be careful, the parts just might be made there too. (See General discussions) laugh
My daughter happens to be in love with Gary Jeeter. (only he don't know it) wink

Stop and think about it........that's a good thing! The planter box looks great all the time.....you never have to put gas in it, or inflate the tires, no dead batteries, no oil changes, no tune ups and the list goes on. And.......with your kid on the west coast........no babysitting either and you get the television any time that you want it. Sounds good to me.

And, my '32 Chevy planter box is the most trouble free car that I have, and I'm the only dog on my block that has one too! Did I mention that my '32 Chevy planter box also has a rumble lid?? laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

Hey JYD;

Yes I saw the picture of the planter in one of the Dog Shows. I spotted that rumble lid and thought to myself, I wonder if...

If my daughter winds up on the left coast it's going to be by her joice, and not part of a deal to get a new rumble seat lid. Good greaf! I'm not that desperate.

I guess that's what sets us Chevy people apart from the others. I would never self my first born for a Genuine GM Part, NOS or otherwise.

But if you ever need that planter moved, my daughter and I would be glad to dismattle it for
ya! wink

We'll leave Jeeter home. dance

You better watch your planter JYD, since I now have a covered trailer with an electric winch, I do need topay a visit to that area out there before it falls off into the Pacific!

Not to worry Macky Wacky.....the only thing that is going to fall of into the Pacific Ocean is California with all of their radical politicians and such. Anyway, the '32 Chevy planter box is guarded day and night by a Junkyard Dog and he is armed with a 10 gauge shot gun. Out here......the Junkyard Dogs and the Black Tail deer shoot back! Ya! yipp laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

Also, I forgot to mention that for the past year or so, when dudes come by for a visit they have been bringing '32 Chevy parts for the planter box. Now it has a radiator shell and one headlight. If this keeps up, one of these days the planter box will be a complete car.......but it will still be a planter box!

Maybe I should consider bringing one of them Neon tail pipe rocket lights from J.C Whitney for the planter then, ....I think that would be cool!

JYD, since you are a Chevy man, wouldn't you rather see the '32 on the road devil devil Now if you would agree to abide by the vote, that would really be fun. Remember now I'm in Florida where the votes count? or not? devil
