Truck is currently fitted with what I believe are the original split rims Tires are H78-15. I'd like to keep original rims. Any recommendations on replacement tires (brand and or sizes)? Thanks for the help!

The original size tire for the 3/4 ton truck was a 7.00X15 6 ply truck tire. There was other options including that tire in 8 ply.You presently have an old style (and size) passenger car tire. I would check with a local brand name tire dealer and see what is available in your size.

I have installed 700 by 16 tyres on my '57 1\2 ton. These are heavier than the 600's but the 700's look better on the truck. Is there any danger of damaging the wheel bearings with these heavier tyres? I have set up the wheel bearings according to the Manual ( with the bearing pre-load)
