Just some info, went to see and buy with check in hand the 54 that was advertised on page 44 of the G&D this month and came home empty ended. First one there with the money in hand and still no deal. Talk about being a little upset....As the saying goes,"You never know some one unless you do business with them or marry them"., and then its too late. Leo

Ray,I had called the fellow Monday night about the car to make sure he hadn't sold it. He stated he had many calls on it and that someone in Ca. was sending a deposit but hadn'h seen it yet. I asked when I could see it and that I would come in with a full payment if it was what I wanted. I called Wed morning before I left and at 11am. it was still a go. Told him I would meet him a 7pm at his place. Sometime in between some one called and said he was sending a deposit and would be in on the weekend. I called him at 6pm to tell him I was a mile away from his house. He then informed me the car was not in Granby but in Windsor Locks Ct. He gave me the directions and I continued to Windsor Locks. The car was in the driveway and he was sitting on the tailgate of his truck. I introduced myself and at that point he proceeded to tell me about the other check coming. I said "Look I told you when I called this morning that I was coming with the money,no tire kicking and if I like what I see its a done deal". At that point I again offered to leave the $8000.00 check and after it cleared I would come for the car. He said I would have to wait after the weekend and if the other fellow didn't take it he would call me. Sooo I got the run around and I can assure you I'm not going back...Leo

Hi Again Leo, "Been there: Done that". I'm not sure how you handle a situation like that. I have been on both sides of the fence. You try to make it as clear as possible your genuine interest and they shove it to you. To be the advacate: I have been on the other side and had buyers(?) assure me they were on the way with money, have someone appear on the scene in the meantime, refuse them and the buyer (?) never arrives. So, it goes both ways. Thanks for your excellent description of the incident. Hopefully, you will find a better car and better deal.
