The tan (gold) would match more with other interior trim colors in 1949interiors and the gold looks like the gold used in the Special series horn button. Any steering wheel I have ever seen is ivory like the shift knob.

The wheel in the third picture appears to me to be the optional one available in '49 for "dressing up" both Special and Deluxe models. The pictured one is in a '49 convertible.
