The only person that's happier than me is 1931Roadster, as he's usually the guy stuck behind me on tour! The brake lights are really bright.

With the led taillights, if they are fully enclosed in an original tailight housing and lens they WONT be seen by the judge so probably wont be a deduction.

Actually the lights are checked during the 'field entrance check'. If those folks are 'on the ball' they will see the bulbs are not original. Whether they deduct point(s) is up to them.

Is the field entrance check listed on the judging sheet? I am under the impression that the field entrance check is to verify that the vehicle is in condition to meet the requirements of being eligible to be on the field. I suppose that the judging team may or may not have some of those same people doing some of the judging.

Yes the field entrance check is on the judging form. The field entrance check is done by a separate team than class judging. Some of the same folks might do both. The field entrance check verifies that the paperwork is properly filled-out, vehicle runs, stops, has a fire extinguisher and the lights, horn, wipers, convertible top mechanism, etc. actually work. Point deductions are made on the judging form for inoperable items. It also eliminates the trailer queens that don't actually run and drive. To check all that stuff on the judging field is nearly impossible as it takes the owner and judging team at each vehicle at the same time. Can you imagine the distraction all those vehicles being started and run, moved forward and back, horns honked during judging? I can it is a nightmare.

They check to make sure the radio works too. Could you imagine a show field full of cars with blaring factory sound systems!! rockband

ALL vehicles that want to be on the Judging / Show Field MUST go thru the Field Entrance Check. This includes, vehicles to be judged, CDPC (Drivers), HPOCF (unrestored), DNJ = Do Not Judge, Display Only, Speedster Chapter and any meet which invites the Personalized Chapter to attend.

All vehicles MUST have a working Fire Extinguisher on the passenger front floor area.

I agree a fire extinguisher IS a necessary item I seriously doubt it would have been fitted at the factory so why is a deduction if missing on the judging field.

As we drive older Chevrolets and GMCs, sometimes there may be a problem with old wiring, poor electricl connections, a leaky fuel system, etc. The VCCA feels strongly that everyone on the Judging/Show Field must have a fire extinguisher for safety purposes. Since everyone puts there fire extinguisher on the passenger front floor area, everyone knows where to go in case they are ever needed.

Yes, an operational fire extinguisher meeting ANSI/UL 5 B-C standards at a minimum. (page 7 of the Judging Manual).
