Somewhere in my 38 manual there is a photo of the rear spring shackle mount that is in the frame. I can't seem to find it again!

I looked trough all of my material and can not find a picture of the rear of the rear sping hanger for a 1938.
What do find is a picture of a 1937 and the hanger is simply on the bottom of the rail Then going to the parts book the same hanger is shown as fitting a 1936 Standard, 1937 and 1838 cars and 1937 and 1938 1/2 ton trucks.
Then gointg to the 1939 engineering the rear hanger is completely revised and the hanger is more or less up into and on the outside of the frame rail.
Nothing is mentioned in the 1938 engineering as to a change in the rear hanger but listed and pictured in the 1939 engineering.

This is driving me crazy. I remember seeing somewhere, the arrangement of how the rear shackle goes through the frame. I went out the other day and was quite surprised to see that arrangement. Thanks for your research work!

UPDATE:
OK, I found it. Service News November 1938, page 67. Now I can relax.

Is this difficult to remove and replace? The shackle goes up into the frame.

That picture is showing the new shackle mounting for the 1939 Chevrolet.

So it says that the shackle is very similar to the 38 model except for the length. I am pretty sure my 38 is mounted through the frame too. So I am wondering how difficult it is to disassemble.

Not a hard job. The bush in the frame can usually be removed with a g clamp and sockets,.. like doing universal joints.. penetrating oil and taptap with a hammer to get it started..

Well I went out and had another good look and my 38 shackle isn't mounted inside the frame, I was wrong. For me that is great news! Thanks for the information.
