Another small problem today...
Started up the old fleetmaster, and after a it had warmed up nicely, it startted to putter, getting progressively worst, until it stalled... after having sat for a while and cooled off, it started up again... would appear like its getting too much gas... The car has sat idle for a couple of years... could that have affected the carb (needle, float, nozzle???)... I would appear its getting too much gas after having warmed up... Cold, its fine...
Anybody have a clue???
Thanks...
Marcellin

it's the car's way of paying you back for neglecting it those years.

sticking float would be a place to start

Is the choke opening when it warms up?

Here is the posting from Chev Gene on the other thread since 46chevy posted this same question twice:

"If its too much gas black smoke will come out of the tail pipe.
The engine requires a richer mixture when cold so it may act as you describe. When cold the choke must be pulled out part way to run smoothly...and then gradually pushed in until engine warms up....are you over choking it by leaving the choke pulled out-is the choke opening fully?...you can see by removing air cleaner.
Other than that I would suspect dirt in the bottom of the gas tank and fuel line is being drawn up into the carburetor."
