You'll never meet a nicer guy than Gene. I've known him for over 40 years at Central Meets, Middle West Meets, and Eastern Early Cix Cylinder Tours. He has knowledge that beats anything I have ever known. Very interesting story.

The G & D rarely arrived here in Aus less than 3 weeks after the US had their's worn out so this year I opted for the "e membership" and read the G&D online.

Car looks "factory fresh". I would like to hear Gene's comments on the car, regarding miles, accessories, when purchased, etc. And a few more pics.

The first time I saw the car was at a Middle West Meet in Iowa in 1981. It had less than 20,000 miles on it at that time with the original black wall tires, etc. It was then owned by VCCA member Tom Flagge. He found it it a warehouse where it had sat for years. The car was purchased new in Iowa and rust free.
I have the repair order where it had a heater, directional lights, oil filter, visor (Chevrolet), and out side mirror installed by the dealer.
Flagge installed the radio, back-up lights, bumper wing tips, fog lights, etc....all correct original.
The car was purchased by another VCCA member, Bob Stremmel, in about 1983. He had the car "detailed" including engine compartment painted as well as chassis. (so that is not "original"). Installed white walls and was a general show car trailered to meets etc. Got major awards in the VCCA and ACCA. They also used the car locally and in the later years joined with our region for some tours, etc.
Bob got cancer and their fleet of cars was put up for sale. I adopted the '50, a car I had always wished to own. This was in 1999 and had 36,000 miles on it.
I used the car for the Eastern 6 Cylinder tours as it was a good, comfortable long distance tour car. It more or less replaced my '39.
Went from Vermont (east) to the Anniversary Meet in Grand Junction Clolrado (west) and many places inbetween. Was not used to any extent in the last four years and has 55,000 miles at this time and its seconed set of new tires. Still runs like new and reminds me of all the new 1950's I drove as well as the 1950 Bel Air Power Glide I had in 1952.
