Can somebody please tell me how the rear shelf insulated speaker covers are attached to the underside of the shelf? Thanks, Bill

On my 72 Monte Carlo, that I bought new there is a stud on the bottom of the speaker that held the cover on with a nut and washer. I do not rember for sure how the stud was attached.

In the 64-72 Chevelles there are speaker mounting studs that slide into the metal package tray behind the rear seat and provide a down facing stud for speaker installation. Then there are speed nut type retainers that can screw onto the same stud to hold the enclosure on.

Here's a link to the retainers in Eckler's catalog which shows the retainer pretty well. Looks like NPD carries the same thing for about half the price. You could probably make your own.

Hope this works for you.

Well well, looks like ken48 has transitioned quite well to ken71. Hope you really enjoy your new ride this season.

Agrin Russell, you old dog, the new name you gave me (ken71) is actually closer to my age than the old ken48. The transition....wow, I'm learning all over again. V8 vs 6, Air conditioning (what the heck is that?), automatic transmission....an not even PowerGlide.........it goes on and on........

Thanks for watching .......
