I don't have the dimensions or even a photo. The Chevy parts book lists "Back Curtain with Light less Gypsies (Whipcord)" then "Strap, Back Curtain Hold-up". I believe that "Light" indicates a clear flexible material and not glass.

The rear window is made to exacting specifications but may not be an 100% match to the original. It is a very good replacement intended to be used with glass or Plexiglas. My research determined that the 490s and F series cars used tapered glass rear "windows". Don't know then they switched to a clear flexible material but it apparently was used up to 1930. Maybe Skipper can shed some light on the rear "light".

I am not sure about 1930 but 1931 used a rear window assembly with a "Johnson" logo. There are at least three different versions of the 1931 "Johnson" window frames. Don't know why?

Is the logo visable when the window is assembled or on the inside?

Thanks

Thanks for all the info. I purchased a window and frame a few years ago. The window I have has a glass window with bevelled edges, and I think it is probably slightly larger than the ones I see on Ford model a at least. I was in touch with a gentleman in Ont. Can. who has an all original 30 roadster I saw a picture of the car and it certainly looks perfect.I hope to get some info from his roadster, but he wont have access to it until mid Apr.Guess I will simply hurry up and wait,(gratefully of course) Thanks again jfalk

The Johnson logo is visible from the outside. The inside is fabric covered wood.

My 1929 convertible landau and 1931 landau phaeton both have the johnson logo which is in the middle of the outside bottom portion of the frame. The frames are chrome plated.

”  Part Listed in 4-Cyl Master Book

I know that the 1931 rear window frame had the Johnson logo in the bottom center of the outside metal frame. The inside frame was wood the same as in the Filling Station reproduction. Not so sure about any other frames. Since the glass is listed in a 4-cylinder parts book one might conclude that it was originally installed on a 1928 or earlier car. Since the part number 4420638 does not appear until the Feb. 1, 1931 4 Cylinder part book it obviously was a replacement not an original 4-Cylinder part. Interestingly the part number 4420638 does not appear in the Aug. 1, 1930 Six Cylinder Master Parts book.

Let the discussion continue.
