Hello All, I tend to stay with this forum mostly, but it's applicable to everyone. When the topic of 'what do cruisers carry' post appeared, AAA card was mentioned. This reminded me that just recently our new AAA Plus cards came in the mail. As normal, the information card suggests destroying the old cards. As I was cutting up the old card, I noticed that my new card DID NOT have the RV stamping on it. Checking the back side of the information card which shows our billing amounts, which are automatically billed to our account, I discovered that to continue Rv and Motorcycle coverage, it would cost an additional $35 dollars per year. So why would AAA delete these coverages unbeknown to the customer? When we called AAA and asked the reason for this, all that the representative could say was, some people thought that they were paying for too much coverage that they did not want. So, the fix is that you still pay the same amount as before and get less coverage. Sounds logical as in, 'if you like your coverage you can keep it'. If I had not noticed the change and continued believing that we were covered, we'd be screwed. Why didn't AAA just tell us that the price went up for the coverage we want? Make sure that you have the correct tools to work with on your next breakdown.

Good information. Maybe a moderator could move it to the General Discussion forum for further comment.

As you can see I moved the thread to the General Discussion forum as suggested.

I used to have AAA road assistance, 7 years ago when I bought a motorhome they told me that it would not be covered by AAA. I discontinued their service. Switched to Allstate to cover the motorhome, I did not buy their insurance, just the road side assistance. I have used it twice. The last time the gal from India just could not comprehend where I was, I hung up called a local service and paid them $200.00 Then I called Allstate to get reimbursed and got a check for $200.00.

The Aus version of AAA does very similar, you need to watch them every year. The last trick they pulled was to reduce the total weight allowed to tow to a maximum possible (not neccessarily actual) weight of 2500 kg (bit under 2.5ton) which means most small utes arent towed as part of the membership, empty or loaded. As I am a patrolman I get calls to out of date members and non members and told it is a free courtesy call but you can probably guess every one except me gets paid as per usual. Tony

Been a AAA Member for 15+ Years now, started out at the standard version and then upgraded years ago to the Plus Version for more towing and coverage if needed. Mine has Never included or covered RV coverage ! that would be an additional charge. "Optional RV and Motorcycle Towing and RV Tire Change Service for $42 per member household per membership year" available on Plus & Premier Mine should renew here before June and always read for changes/ updates !!

Another suggestion - check out Good Sam Roadside Assistance. They provide coverage for any vehicle you are driving (even if it is not yours) as well as your RV. If your RV is a truck towing an RV trailer, Good Sam will tow your truck AND TRAILER to a repair site. (Most other plans will tow only the tow vehicle and leave the trailer, unless you pay extra to have the trailer towed too).

Is that there "Good Sam" available below the border? Never heard of it. Sounds like a good thing, though. We need a bit more information about it. I guess I could google it but you're the one who brought it up. Charlie

I guess I could google it but you're the one who brought it up. Charlie "Good Sam" is a well known and respected name within the RV community. You'll see their decals on motorhomes, etc, somewhat larger than the AAA decal. http://www.goodsamclub.com/default.aspx?pkgcode=2HKZ&gclid=CJOmzvHWtMQCFXQQ7Aod82EAUg
