Does anyone know for sure if "speckled" trunk paint was used in 1951? I would like to use it on my 51 Deluxe but I thought it was started sometime in the early 1960's....

No it was not. Mine was painted the body colour...
Those accustomed to the finest...find it in Chevrolet.

I remember the speckled trunk paint in the 60s. Don't know when it first appeared but am sure not as early as 1951. My almost original '51 has body color in trunk.

Note that the trunk mat and side cardbord was brown on early 1951 DELUXE models and black on late 1951 Deluxe and all Special series.

So my serial number is a JAD325I68 and it seems to me it was a March built car?
How ever there were bits and pieces of what could be the original floor mat and they looked faded black?

"D" is an April car.
I am not sure what month the change was made.

JAD? The online serial number information I've looked at only showed JJ and JK. Where does the JA come into play?

JAD is the ID for the engine type.
The serial number gives the assembly date.
The serial number will read like 8 JK 4 xxxxxx
The 8 would be the assembly plant, JK a 1951 Deluxe, 4 the month asembled and the remaining numbers the assembly sequence number. The serial number plate is on the left windshield post.

Many of the 1951 changes were made in the Spring of 1951.
