My 1947 parts book lists 986005 as "accessory, delux" 42-47 all pass. I didn't think 42 used the same wheel, but that's what the book says.

Do you have the ebay link. I'd like to see it.

The only thing to see is a 1940's Accessory cardboard box with the yellow and green label. The box has not been opened! Hope the wheel did not crack - split or other wise deteriorate. I would have hated to pay $1425.00 ,get a wheel that needs restored and only have a box to show off.

A MINT 47-48 Banjo Wheel can bring $1800.00 and more!!

They sold for $16.50 new in the box in 1948.

I have both wheels, and IMHO the 2 spoke wheel looks much nicer in the car.

Interesting how the 'standard' item often looks better than than the 'deluxe' or 'accessory' item.

I agree with Sarge's opinion.

I have the deluxe wheel on my 48 (3 spoke) with horn ring and original center cap. Does anyone know where I can find another Center cap. Mine has a small crack.

I believe that there might be 2 individuals reproducing the center horn cap on the 1948 Banjo Steering Wheel. If my memory serves me correct, the one made for a Springfield Ohio Chevy vendor is NOT the correct color. Anyone know of a good repro? NOS are almost impossible to find anymore.

The center cap for the banjo wheel is almost impossible to find NOS anymore. If you do find one, expect to pay in upwards of $700.00 The last one I saw on ebay sold for $865.00, and that was some time ago!!! The repros are becoming quite common now, but as stated, look like reproductions! The repros go for around $250.00 and up.
