Im wondering how many 46 47 48 Chevys are out there right now being restored? Come on guys sign up right here. I will start,

1947 Fleetmaster Sport Sedan (Drivable) mines more of a refurbishment though. I hate braking apart original screws, and disturbing original equipment when I dont have too. Wisconsin)

I am on vacation this week and tomorrow I am assembling my front suspension on my '46 aerosedan. Hope to have the engine and tranny in by this time next week. All the metal work is done on the floor and rockers. Paint inner front end sheet metal this week to I hope. Supposed to rain all week here. Dang I can't do any yard work and plant the garden. I'll just have to work on the '46. Boo Whoooo!!!! lol.

I acquired my 48 Fleetline aerosedan 3 years ago. It had already had some body work, was painted and and had a Hampton Coach interior installed. Little or no mechanical work had been done on it. I've had the engine rebuilt, clutch and brake work done so now it is roadworthy. I'm continuing to gather and install trim parts that were missing and generally refurbishing the old girl as time and pocketbook permits. It ain't perfect, but it's fun and it's mine.

I have a '48 Fleetmaster Town Sedan. But it is NOT being restored. It is an original survivor with only about 53,000 miles on it.

It was originally owned by the proverbial little old man who only drove it on sundays. I have his name. According to my research, he was 68 years old when he bought the car new.

I'm owner #6. It had some body work and a paint job (poor) about 20 years ago. New wide whites some time in the last 10 years. Other than that, everything is original and pretty darn nice. I plan to keep it that way as long as possible.

Since not too many are repling maybye you all can give some history on your Chevy. I am the third owner of my '46 and the original owner is still alive. He bought the car brand new in Elora, Ontario which is about a hour and a half north west of Toronto. It was purchased in Dec. of '46 and he had to wait two weeks for delivery because the cars came with no tires. You got tires when you bought the car. There was still a shortage.(post war)I have all the documents and hand book and manual. He drove it till '63 then parked it in his garage. 2 inches of rat poison on the floor, oil in the cylinders, gas drained. This guy undercoated it every year. Sat till '93. I helped my brotherinlaw pull it home when he bought it in '93. Thru a battery in it poured gas down the carb and off it went. To make this short, lol, I traded him my '66 chevy p/u even in'2002. Has been off the road now for 1 1/2 and she's going back together now. I must say I have never had a love for a car as I do for this one. Cheers!!!!

I know of several '48 convertibles that are being restored now. The interest in my convertible parts on ebay brings out bidders...It's been more than 20 years since I finished mine, but you'll find out that they are never done...

Hi Guys I am in the final stages on my 48 Fleetline Areo 2 Dr Sedan, in fact it is in for front end alignment right now. I did a body off and did all the work my self except for the engine. I also used a Hampton Coach interior which my wife & I installed. It is not perfect but like I said I did everything. It only took about 10 years off * on, mostly off until I retired 4 years ago.

I have one of those 48 Cabriolets PDX Joe was talking about. I towed it home to Michigan about 3 years ago (disassembled)and had it on the road late last year. What fun!! Satin Green, green leather Hampton Coach interior. These are great fun, and something the whole family can enjoy, and boy do they get the looks. HEY, PDX Joe, do you have an extra center swing latch for the convertible top? There's a few other odds and ends I could use. Let me know, - - Bowtie.

Bowtie,
I don't have an extra one of those. My car was only missing two parts when I bought it in '70 - the dome light plastic and the vacuum shift cylinder. Since I didn't begin restoration for several years, I thought I needed the small back window for the top. Well, when I cleaned out the top well, it was laying flat in the bottom with the original canvas still attached.....It was drivable, so we enjoyed it back then, but it took me until '85 to finish the restoration. What do you need? I'm saving the obvious stuff that could be damaged in today's traffic....

Hey PDX joe - - let me take a good look at my parts bin and I will get back tomorrow. Thanks for the offer. Regarding the Hampton Coach interior, it's all pretty straight forward. I chose to send the front seat out to be re-built with the Hampton kit. There's a lot of parts that go into those frt seats, but the door trim, arm rests, qtr trim, rear seat covers, cowl kick, the trunk trim, top well, those areas are not hard to understand and build up. On my convertible the qtr trim is the soft matl only. You use a good spray trim adhesive to bond it to your old steel substrate. Not difficult though. Bowtie.

PDX Joe: I was working on my horns last night and took a quick look at my parts supply. The thing is, my top's not on the car yet, and I don't know what I don't know yet - - if you follow me, until I get into installing all of the bows, bells, whistles, ect, I don't know what I am missing. Just a couple of things that I know of are the center swing latch that you said you don't have either, and the rear wood bow. If you don't mind, shoot me an e-mail at bowtie216@wowway.com and maybe we can keep in touch as I get into the assemply of that folding top assembly. If nothing else, I am sure I could use some tips and instruction as to how this puzzle goes together. Thanks, Bowtie.

I'm currently restoring a 1947 Fleetmaster Sport Sedan. The engin and chassis are completed and the main body and doors are painted and returned to the chassis. I expect to put all the glass back, complete the doors next.

Thanks

Aw shucks '46 Aero, Ya got me blushing. Once I figure out how to post photos, and my lousy dial up lets me do it, I just might put a couple on here. Thanks for the vote of confidence John, couldn't have done it without your help. But then thats what this site is all about.
