I have a 1930 1.5 ton truck that has the solid disc wheels with split rim. There is a peg that goes into a hole and a rim lock that keeps the two half's together. is the rim lock suppose to swivel? Mine fell off. I'm trying to decide the best way to fix it. I have a picture but I'm unable to post it. I hope my description is enough. Thanks. Mike

There are at least three different rim locks. One uses a pin in a door hinge type device. Another a cotter pin that fits into a hole in a tab locking a bridging part attached to the other side. Apparently you have the rotating tab that keeps bridging part from coming off of the pin.

Hi Mike,

I have similar rims on my 1927 LM 1 ton truck. The fat, short pin that is the pivot point for the rotating lock was originally just peened onto the rim, not welded.

When one of my pins came off, I put the rotating lock piece on the pin, put the pin back in the hole it came out of on the rim, and had a friend weld the pin back onto the rim. He welded it from the outside of the rim (facing the tire flap), so the rotating part could still rotate.

Here are a couple of pics of a spare rim that I have. I have circled the pin (and backside) that needs to be reattached to the rim.

Cheers, Dean

That's it Dean. Thank You. Mine didn't rotate being rusted on the pin. That's what confused me. I'll try welding it like you did once I free up the pin.
