Chef, I would take the car to the local Auto Glass dealer and get an estimate on a turnkey job with all the installation , channel and glass setting included. Then when you recover consciousness, think about it. I bought a window, and channel for my 53 from National Chevy Association paid shipping then had a shop to put it in, labor was $200, they did a good job, Once I had the door glass done for a 1955 truck in Midland, Tx They did a shoddy job, didn't use any glass setting tape or the rubber at the bottom of the window that keeps rain out when the window is up, broke a weld, they were $75 over estimate. It is much better if you can find a good place locally, someone you know. Maybe you can cook them a pig and a super meal for some glass work.

Chef,
I have replaced both front windshields, and 3 out of the 4 door glass with glass from chevs of the 40s. I also used there channel kits. The windshields were a snap, so were the door glass. The first channel was a challenge, but a breeze after the first one. You can save a BUNDLE on labor if ya do it yourself.

If your only concern is the rubber seals, and NOT the glass I would say yes. But it really wouldnt make sense to re-do the seals to put new glass in later. The glass actually fits into the rubber channels, and the whole assembly mounts into the car.
Hey, Chef did you get the seat springs I sent to you???

Chef: I suggest you call Vintage Glass USA at 1-800-889-3826 and ask for Todd. He has patterns for most makes and models and does a really excellent job. He's in Connecticut which isn't exactly around the corner from you, but he may be worth a call. He can make both pieces for the windshield but he would need to know if yours is a 2 dr. or a 4 dr. to see if he can get the rear. Oh, and definitely do the new glass and rubber seals at the same time. You don't want to do this twice!

I used: classicglass@peak.org Shoot this guy an e-mail, his name is Bob. At least get a quote from him. I got a whole set of glass for my 48 cabriolet. I installed the windshield and the vent glass and they came out fine. I have yet to install the side glass. I need some new rollers for my regulators before I install those. I did have a problem with my glass from Bob, but he took care of the issue fast. First, one pc was broken in shipment, and later I noticed one pc that had a slightly different tint than the rest. Again he took care of me, and the price was right. I have his phone number around somewhere. Let me know if you need it. Bowtie
