EXCELLENT point! I forgot about that one. The 47 switch is just a flat disc, and the 48 does have that little lever on it. Anyway, if the cowl tag is "original" then its a 47 no doubt.

I HAVE A 48 WOODIE AND SEEM TO REMEMBER THAT THE EARLY 48'S AND 47'S HAD A SPLIT WINDOW AT REAR TAILGATE....WHAT A GREAT EYE FOR DETAIL YOU GUYS HAVE...MY REAR SPRINGS..I THINK HAVE AN EXTRA LEAF....AND STOCK..CAME WRAPPED...

Ralph is right. The wagons had an 8 leaf spring, but so did some of the passenger cars. My cabriolet has 7 leaf springs. There were several 8 leaf numbers for '48 sedans, sedan delivery,wagons, etc...The coupes had 7 leaf.

I think Eldredjames is referring to the picture of the bill of sale for the engine rebuild the seller of this car had done. There is a picture of it

Thanks Fleet47. Eldredjames' comment sure had me stumped. I re-checked the auction site. The actual figure is $1162.21, which includes $17.84 for 'tax.' Close enough!!! Bill.
