Thought I'd share a milestone in my 36's life. For the first time since she was installed at the factory the body and frame are apart.
It was a very exciting day and one I've been looking forward to since I got her 2 1/2 years ago. The boy in the red jacket is my son and he was suitably awed as well.

Just wanted to share with those who helped me get here.

Nice tree limb came in handy!

Makes for a good yard decoration for the neighbors to enjoy.

It's a good thing the tree stopped by for a visit so that you could borrow the big branch to pull the body!

That has been a very handy tree limb. Used to lift many heavy objects including a castle gate! Long story.

On to stripping the frame down to the basics and putting the body in a homemade rotisserie.

Ron fantastic use of available resources. It makes me think of the time I removed the body off a 1940 Buick 4 door back in the early 1970s. Best of luck to you and I am sure your son will always remember.

I, however, had my own made as I already had the aluminum tubing and had a vendor that could do the rolling for me cheap. The rest is homemade "fingers" rather than welded on tabs as that allowed me to position the "fingers" wherever worked best for the "spokes".
I made the "spokes" out of 1/2" conduit as I had some left over from another project.

The hoops works really well. Right now I haven't built the base for it that allows it to rotate in place. But, for now I'm able to roll it around in my yard to rotate it and really wash it out in preparation for the body work and prep I need to do in the future.

Plus, I can move it around with literally one hand. The body work and initial painting will be much easier as well in the limited space I have to do the work.

10 out of 10 for that idea, would suit multiple vehicles though as you noted needs a large area to move in.

Won't need as much space to move around once I build the base.

The base is basically a set of casters in two frames to allow me to spin the hoops like a hamster on a wheel. Just haven't built it yet.

What a difference a week makes.

I know it doesn't compare to Wisconsin but, 2 inches of snow today.

That's my 36 Chevy burrito under the green plastic.

So one quick question ...... Who went up the tree to set the chainfall. Totally awesome I love it.

All I say is that I really like San Antonio. No **** snow! I have shoveled, walked and seen plenty of it. Skiing is fun though.

That would be me.

My big ladder made it to the limb though.
My days of climbing trees like that are coming to an end.

At 58, I don't heal as fast as I used to.
