Hi, the intake valves on my car's head measure 1.455 inches diameter; I bought some new valves and they measure 1.409 inch diameter. The machinist at the head shop pointed this out to me when I took them the parts. Is it possible I have a 1930 or later head?
Who knows what has been done to a car in 80+ years, after all?
Thanks!

The intake and exhaust valves are the same size on a 1929. The 1930 is normal with intakes larger than the exhaust.
The 1929 valves were 1 13/32"
The 1930 are 1 15/32" for the intakes and 1 11/32 for the exhaust.
The casting number for a 1929 head is 835503 and a 1930 is 836273

My machinist thinks the head was reworked once and it was done for the larger intake valves either because of wear or because they could not find the 1929 valves. I am getting some 1930-31 intake valves. The head is a 1929 head according to the casting number.
Thanks!
