I am building a 1930 194 this engine was in pieces when I bought it. My question is there any parts that go between the crank gear and the balancer other that the slinger. I pressed the new crank gear on but can't see what keeps the slinger from spinning on the crankshaft

Nothing else is used. The slinger is held solid when the crank gear is pressed completely ON.

I don't understand how the crank gear holds it on the crank gear has to go on first then the slinger then the front cover then the balancer it just seems like there needs to be a spacer In there somewhere to tighten every thing up it just doesn't seem like the balancer will go on far enough to pinch it without hitting the timing cover

If the balancer is driven on until is stops the slinger will the locked in place.....believe me, that is how they all are assembeled..
If the cover is installed properly the balancer will not contact the cover.
