As usual someone has figured out how to screw up yet another decent system…got on Ebay this morning for 37 and 38 Chevies…someone in Oregon has saturated the system with Hot Rod shift balls….I stopped at page 61 of nothing but Hot Rod shift balls..total abuse…that's over 3000 single ads…don't know why they allow this and don't know who sits there and enters each one…I'm sure someone figured out how to automate the entries…poor situation…the World is full of you know whats…Billu38

Just put in "advanced search", and "- hot rod shift"and it will getrid of them.

A few years back, it was really easy, quick, and efficient to search Ebay for parts for, say, a 1937 Chevrolet. Then sellers got smart and learned how to word their ads so that their item would be splattered across the entire Ebay universe, and now, when searching for 1937 Chevrolet parts, you have to wade through tons of generic car parts and accessories to find perhaps a half dozen genuine 1937 Chevrolet parts.

Tonight I noticed the scourge of the shift knobs, and after scrolling through about 12 pages, I remembered that in the "Advanced Search" section, there is a box titled "Exclude words from your search". If you look at the shift knob ads, you'll notice that every one includes the word "knob", so just enter the word "knob" in the Exclude words dialog box, then hit the blue "search" button and all the shift knob ads will be gone.

I agree... had to tweak my searches for 1929 Chevrolet stuff, for the same reasons. People are putting in KEY WORDS to get more hits and get there stuff seen in hopes of selling more.

Have to learn how to do a strategic search using modifiers like stated above

SIMPLE, IF YOUR UNHAPPY ABOUT EBAY AND SELLER LISTING STUFF, THEN COMPLAIN TO THEM. YOU CAN ACTUALLY FIND A SPOT ON THE ITEM LISTING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT IT AND KEEP COMPLAINING.

I have complained to them and I might as well complained to the wall. They were not interested in hearing what I had to say, in fact I had a hard time even getting them to understand what I was complaining about.

My guess is that Ebay is far more likely to respond to seller-related complaints than they are buyer-related complaints, as sellers are the ones that pay the freight.

Actually it is the buyers that pay the freight and for the stuff too. Ebay just takes their cut out of what the seller receives.

Ebay takes their percentage out of the amount of the items the seller sells and the shipping cost.

Ebay in the last 2 or 3 years appears to be less interested in handling problems on their site. I had a non-paying buyer who said after the auction ended that he did not really bid on my 1940 Chevy Dealer Showroom Album. The non-paying bidder sent me an email saying that his 3 year old child bid $175.00 on my item, not him. REALLY? Ebay was no help to me as the seller. In fcat, trying to find a phone number to call them is like finding out how to break into Fort Knox.

I have been a buyer on Ebay for many years now. The very few times I have had something to remark, I have got the system to listen and got my "rights": Sellers not accepting PayPal after the auction ends, wanting Wester Union etc. instead, after PayPal was made mandatory, which was a good move for the buyers to avoid the few dubious sellers. Giving wrong information about size of neon signs, model cars, etc. Overcharging the S/H costs, not in accordance with the information on the page, etc. were other options.

I also have reported all kinds of fraud attempts to reveal my PP account details, and with very fast reactions from the system thereafter. For me and many International buyers Ebay is a very good, fast and secure place to use. And it is far the biggest reliable source for my needs and wishes.

But I also agree to the comments here about numerous items not having anything to do with f.ex. Chevrolet, 490, 1916, a.s.o. and still showing up. This has exploded the last years and should be stopped or regulated to be visible only on the page where they really belong.

Got a new "Jerk" this morning on E-bay….if you click on an item to get details or place a bid, an advertisement for Valentines gifts pops up on the screen and it takes 4 or 5 tries using the return arrow to get rid of it and back to the main screen…never-ending….Billu38

I have been on eBay for over 13 years and sold a lot of good items there.
BUT<, eBay thinks ALL sellers are crooks and ALL buyers are saints.

Of course, this is not so.

A few times my paypal account was raided to refund to a SAINT buyer that was lying.

One of them didn't accept the refund as he knew he was in the wrong.

4 times eBay has refunded money to a buyer and they DIDN'T pull the money from me. They paid the refund from eBay's account.
They do have some problems, but for the most part not too bad.
