Can anyone tell me what the wood grain and base color is for my 42 Special deluxe 4dr. I have used the search feature, but there is not much discussion on these two colors I do know it is a straight grain pattern. I cannot discern what colors are the graining in some places looks almost like a driftwood color or tone and in others it appears to be more of a brown tone. I am assuming the base color is the same as the steering column.

I'm not sure what your special deluxe 4door falls under, but according to the Chevy Restoration Package, it says they used Straight Cut Walnut or Blistered Walnut.

The Special Deluxe wood grain was a darker tan color. This included the top of the dash and window garnish mouldings and the inside wind shiels divider mouldinf. Do you have a smmple on any of these parts?

Chevs of the 40's sells a quart of tan w/ pink cast for dash bottom & steering column for the Special Deluxe. This color is the base for painting a wood dash. The 41 Master Deluxe uses a different shade of brown. Kind of like coffee with milk in it. I am interested in finding a modern paint code for my dash and trim. When I take my garnish to a paint store they tell me they can not get a reading off it because it is curved???

Good Luck, Mike

I do not know if 42 used the same interior paint color?

Hi Gene and Mike, Gene all the wood graining in my 42 is dirty, worn and faded so each piece looks different. The back glass garnish is the nicest and it looks like driftwood to me. Which obviously is not correct. Mike the 42 base does not have the pink cast to it. I found some off the shelf spray paint that is very close to the steering wheel and column so that is what I am going to use. I am going to use the hydrographics process and go with straight grain walnut pattern. I'll let you guys know how it works out.
